Volunteers with the Churcampa Medical and Humanitarian Mission returned to Churcampa, Huancavelica in August of 2022. In addition to donating medical supplies and equipment to the Centro de Salud, the mission conducted a health fair for the citizens of Churcampa and the surrounding villages. The health fair saw 177 patients in total, from ages 1 to 91, and screened for cases of anemia, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, and preventive testing such as colonoscopies, pap smears, mammograms, densitometries, prostate exams, mental health, among others. The findings are elaborated in the attached report which demonstrate that preventive exams are severely lacking in this population and Churcampa Mission hopes to bring these services to the area in the near future.
